Ok so here in California people have upholded the fact that it is immoral for gay marriage, that gay marriage is an abomination to religious beliefs... and at the same time we are passing prop 4 that doesn't make it necessary for doctors to notify parents of underage girls to have abortions. I could be wrong but I thought that sex before marriage was a sin and not looked highly in the eyes of religious faith. I can't understand the double standard here in this state. I was going to vote yest on prop 8 until I really got to looking at what it would mean. I would be outraged if an election made my marriage to my wife were made illegal and not valid! And I would be outraged to find out that my step-daughter recieved an abortion without my concent! The prop 8 and prop 4 situation we find ourselves in now is so hard to understand, I mean what were the real reasons for outlawing gay marriage? Is abortion a form of birth control? I am sickened by the irresponsibility of voters, it is a horrible problem here in the valley with children having children and we want to help them make more irresponsible decisions and tell them that it's ok because you can recieve an abortion and not have to worry about telling your parents how reckless you were?

I have been following this for a while now and I feel the exact same way that you do, even if I am Canadian. lol :)
@FreeTheFun - Thank you! I feel like this whole situation is very hypocritical from a biblical perspective, you can't say one thing and mean the other... it's like doing one thing with one hand while the other hand does something different... or however that goes. LOL thanks for the comment
I think it is ridiculous that a 16 year old would be able to get an abortion without parental consent, but in order to get a belly button piercing, they need the parental consent! How does that make sense?
now you know why they call it failifornia
@jonjake2 - See! I would assume too that as a mother if your children are in school the school would need to notify you of medications like if they need to give your child an aspirin! Yes I would be outraged as well. Thank you, I needed to know tht I wasn't the only one with my head spinning about this topic
The whole argument against gay marriage based on biblical standards has always been hypocrisy. Our marriage laws are not based on biblical standards and haven't been for a very long time.
You're assuming the same people who voted Yes on Prop 8 are the same who voted Yes on 4. This is not necessarily the case at all. Most people who are against gay marriage (which is not the same thing as being against gay people, by the way - love the sinner, hate the sin is not hypocritical, but absolutely true)...are also against abortion. You shouldn't lump all voters together. And not everybody voted on every issue -- many people only voted on issues they knew very much about. If they didn't know much about Prop 4, they may have abstained. It didn't get the press that Prop 8 did.
saw your plugz in thought i drop by to say hi.
everything have boundary and certainly some subject or topic doesn't...sad.
yes people do use abortion as birth control. I for one went to a planned parenthood when I was in highschool. Not only was it an option, they were pushing for me to make that as my decision. I told them no and all brochures they gave me were of abortion only.
But then again, I think parents let their kids out far too much, too late, and too much out of their sight, let alone hearing range. Then again, if we made them listen to us from the get go and expect them to have high expectations a lot less would be in the situation.
good points.
what part of the Valley are you from? i'm in Fresno. o.0
Hope your classes and finals are about over by now! Hope you'll be posting again soon.
